“Apple a day, keeps the doctor away,” Mom told me.
Trinity View is located within a few hundred yards of the Henderson County line. More than 70 percent of North Carolina’s apples are grown in Henderson, and Trinity View makes the most of it. Apples are in season, and there have been visits to several orchards to learn about production and to try a few of the major varieties which make up the bulk of North Carolina’s production: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty and Stayman.
But that’s not all; over 40 others are grown on a limited basis, including Empire, Fuji, Gala, Gold, Jonagold and Mutzu. Trinity residents tried fruit picking and tasting followed by picnic lunches. For those remaining at home, there were delicious apple pies baked by our pastry chef. The annual Hendersonville Apple Festival was cancelled this year due to the virus, but Trinity View continued celebrating. There was a fun in-house festive hard cider tasting to complete the season and keep the docs away.
